The Virtual Tide:  Birmingham City Schools-University of Alabama Online Tutoring Program

University of Alabama students will conduct 30 Zoom video-conferencing and telephone calls each week for the next 5 weeks for Kindergarten through 8th grade students.  The subjects will include Math, Reading, Science, History, Music, and ESL.

Each call will be focused on a specific grade level and subject, such as 3rd Grade Reading or 7th Grade Math.  The team of UA honors student-tutors will partner with Birmingham City Schools teachers and staff, to present an hour of fun conversation, learning, and activities that ties directly into the learning packets the BCS students have received.  Parents are encouraged to join!

Over 150 UA students from over 25 different states will be serving on this team.  The UA students are honors students with experience in tutoring youth and teens.  Birmingham City School students will be able to engage in conversation, participate in discussion, and socialize in a productive and safe environment.  BCS students can also just sit back and listen and watch the show.

We have a schedule of days and times, along with call-in information and meeting identification codes.  BCS students and parents can join from phone, computer, or tablet.  This will be an uplifting and educational experience for everyone in the family!
